Updated January 2006 - A new website has been opened about Jane Smit and Women's Cricket in general.
Jane has been a member of Ilkeston Rutland Cricket Club since she first played with the U15s in 1988 and we are proud that one of our members has had such a successful international career with the England Ladies team.
Jane holds the world record for the number of wicket keeping dismissals and she is also one of only 4 ladies in all world cricket who have played in more than 100 One Day Internationals matches.
To read about Jane's success and about Ladies Cricket in general just click on either of these Links JANE SMIT * * ENGLAND LADIES

It is some years since we were able to play a traditional family match but it is so pleasing to report that nowadays the parents of our present day juniors show so much interest in both their children and in the cricket club.
We now have enough parents available and willing to play so that this year we have been able to organise one of these enjoyable but competitive games.
With this sort of interest and support I hope this annual match will continue for many years to come.
For a report of this year's match click on the link below.

As always we will need volunteers to help run the bbq, bar, score and umpire as well as some other general organisational duties. If there are any volunteers please contact Matt Cassar on 07966 777 296 or 01332 605 038.

Ilkeston Rutland is one of the oldest cricket clubs in Derbyshire - records and history go back to show that cricket matches were played in 1829 and possibly even earlier than that.
Much will have changed over the years and the club have played on the present Rutland County Cricket Ground for the past 77 years since 1926.
During those 77 years little has changed on the council owned ground, but in October 2002 a huge development started which will not be complete until August 2003.
The development consists of a new indoor tennis centre - a new artificial pitch for hockey and for football - an athletics track - a new pavilion for the footballers, for the hockey players and for the athletes - a total development of a new golf course and clubhouse at Pewit - and finally a restructure and refurbishment of our cricket pavilion as well as a new practice area.
The Cricket Club in the main support the development and we are sure the people of Ilkeston will benefit greatly from the new and improved facilities.
However there has been and still is a body of objectors who view the whole development as an eyesore and a waste of money - time alone will tell.
As part of the legal requirements for running a Premiership Club it is necessary to fulfil certain criteria which include having a 4 year Development Plan and a Child Protection Policy both of which can be seen in full by clicking on the Links below.
